Assistant Professor, Directing & Performance – Puppet Arts
Margarita Blush was born and grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1994 she received a BFA degree in Acting for Puppet Theatre from the Bulgarian National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) in Sofia. She moved to the U.S. in 1995, where she later became the Outreach Director for the Fort Wayne Dance Collective (FWDC) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Margarita returned to Bulgaria for two years (2004-2006) and obtained her MFA degree in Directing for Puppet Theatre from NATFA, where she studied with Prof. Nikolina Georgieva, a world-renowned puppetry director.
Margarita continues her work as a puppet theatre director and most recently created The Crane Wife, a puppet theatre performance based on the Japanese folk tale of the same name.
