Assistant Professor in Residence – Theatre Studies
Thomas earned his Ph.D. in Theatre from the CUNY Graduate Center in September 2012. He received the June Bennett Larsen Fellowship from his department and the Schallek Award from the Medieval Academy of America for his dissertation, “Thomas Chaundler and Academic Drama: Performance Practices in the Medieval English University.” His work posits a new definition of performance (pedagogical, devotional, and ceremonial practices) within the medieval universities and performative and textual communities. Part of this research is published in Medieval English Theatre as well as its more contemporary applications in Western European Stages. Recently, Thomas received a PSC-CUNY grant to conduct research at Oxford University in order to turn his dissertation into a book.
