Christina Lorraine Bullard Bullard
Assistant Professor of Costume Design
Christina Lorraine Bullard is a New York based costume designer whose work spans theatre, dance, opera, film, and performance art with a focus on new works. Past collaborations include Sean Curran, Matthew Maguire, Mark Lamos, Isabel Milenski, Rinde Eckert, Mark DeChiazza, Tarell Alvin McCraney, David Lefort Nugent, Michael Kimmel, Nelson T. Eusebio III, Blake Hackler, and Lisa Rothe, among others. In addition to her work for The Joyce Theater, Dance Theatre Workshop, Yale Repertory Theatre, and Off-Broadway, she has also designed productions for The Juilliard School, Fordham University, and Hofstra University.
Additionally, she is a founding company member of Floating Opera New York, a performance company whose focus is on the experimentation of opera in form and place and additionally the use of opera as a grounding point for larger cross-disciplinary collaborations – opera as an expansive center.
She has also been the Associate and Assistant Costume Designer for Jane Greenwood and Isaac Mizrahi for Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional theatres and opera houses including The Santa Fe Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Signature Theatre, Atlantic Theater Company, The Old Globe, Westport Country Playhouse, Shakespeare Theatre Company in D.C., and Hartford Stage.
Her previous design work also crosses into fashion as a clothing designer for the QVC hosted brands Isaac Mizrahi Live and Liz Claiborne New York. She additionally acted as the interim Director of Textiles of Isaac Mizrahi’s high-end runway collection Isaac Mizrahi New York.
Christina also develops and presents workshops that harness the transfer value of the arts as a platform for teaching skills in human-centered design thinking with an emphasis on empathy, observation, personal perspective, creative thinking, innovation, and collaboration. Much of her work in this area has been with the NYC based design thinking company The Design Gym.
She holds an MFA in Design from Yale School of Drama where she was the recipient of the Leo Lerman Award for Costume Design.
