Sarita Fellows

Assistant Professor, Costume Design


A New York based costume designer, Sarita was born in Freetown Sierra Leone and first experienced the stage while living in Kampala, Uganda. She has her MFA in design from Tisch School of Design. Sarita enjoys working in regional theaters as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway, her more recent works include projects such as Death of a Salesman (Hudson Theater), Theater of the Mind (Denver Center of Performing Arts), Exception to the Rule (Roundabout Theater), A Jolly Holiday with Disney (Papermill Playhouse), A Commercial Jingle For Regina Comet (DR2), SOCIAL! The social distance dance club (Park Avenue Armory), Sweat (Guthrie Theater), Seize The King with the Alliance Theater, A Bright Room Called Day with the Public Theater, Fefu and Her Friends, Top Girls and Her Portmanteau with the American Conservatory Theater. Sarita also enjoys working with dance and film. She has designed numerous short independent films including Afronauts, Sight Pictures, Everybody Dies by Frances Bodomo premiering at SXSW, and Dirt by Darius Clark Monroe premiering at Sundance. In the dance world, Sarita has worked with choreographers such as Liz Lerman, Edisa Weeks, and Marshall Davis Jr.
Recently awarded; Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design (The National Black Theater Festival 2022), Lily Award (2020).
