Christianne AE Smith

Program Assistant

Dramatic Arts

Christianne AE Smith is an alumna of UConn with dual undergraduate degrees in English and Theatre Studies with an emphasis in Stage Management. Following her graduation in 2014 as a Honors Scholar and University Scholar with a thesis in Shakespearean performance, Christianne began her career as a theatre educator in secondary education. With her Master’s degree in Secondary English Education (an overlapping credential with education in dramatic arts), she taught in Connecticut for 9 years, providing courses in light design, scenic design, construction, electrics, stage management, and bilingual English language arts. She also participated on the Equity Fellows committee for her school district and strives to create and preserve equitable practices, especially within secondary and post-secondary education.

A lover of language and the performing arts, Christianne is delighted to have returned to the Dramatic Arts department. She is particularly proud of following in her father’s footsteps as a UConn staff member, as he worked for UConn Waterbury for over 30 years. She is a proud union steward of the UCPEA union for UConn staff.  She lives with her husband Michael in central Connecticut and enjoys spending time with her young nephews.
